Gaelen's Soda Bread

  • 2 Cup flour
  • 4 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 4 Tbsp butter
  • 4 Tbsp raisins
  • 1 tsp caraway seed
  • 1 eggs
  • 5 1/4 Fl Oz buttermilk
Preheat oven to 375 ℉. In a large bowl, combine first 5 ingredients. Cut in butter, then add the raisins and caraway seeds. Combine the egg and buttermilk, then add to the mixture. Blend and knead the dough. Shape into a large ball and transfer to buttered baking dish. Cut an X in the top with a sharp knife. If desired, sprinkle extra sugar on top. Bake for 30 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
